Not great. The so-called healthy option of poached eggs and crushed avocado on sourdough toast was drenched in oil. The toast had also been buttered and the crushed avocado tasted like guacamole out of a tub rather than fresh avocado. The pancakes were also stodgy and very greasy rather than fluffy and the maple syrup had no flavour. The service was good and the staff very friendly and helpful but the food was disappointing.
Great place to eat, have just enjoyed a full English breakfast this morning. Liked the fact that I could have a poached egg rather than the usual fried or scrambled. Mushrooms were large and really tasty. Coffee excellent. Will definitely be returning and may make it for a lunchtime.
Got to the Kitchen when it was just opened at 12noon today. Managed to get a good round table for 4. Soon after it customers came gradually filling up the empty tables. Enjoyed the freshly cooked meals, it took some time to wait for them though. But fame before tasting.....in the end it was worth the wait. Yummy and real food with nice presentation and nice smell! Staff are polite in their services rendered.!
This was perhaps our sixth visit and, as previously, the food was excellent. I had eggs Florentine, cooked to perfection. My wife had her usual vegetarian breakfast, although she's not vegetarian, which she thoroughly enjoyed. I almost removed a star because this morning, there was an almost constant horrendous noise to the extent we had to shout in order to have a conversation. It sounded like a coffee machine, but they must have been making enough coffee for all of Winchester rather than the eight or so customers.
I love this place, we always try to come here when we visit Winchester. Although it is extremely popular and does not take bookings so be prepared with an alternate. Lovely food, lovely staff and good decor. Quaint old building with steap, narrow stairs leading to the cafe on the first floor. A great find and we never want to leave!
