All sorts of good stuff
With an hour to spare before an appointment m husband and I went to Dinghams to look around and buy a few items. Unfortunately we were followed all around the store as if we were shoplifters. I decided to buy a nice mug and took it down from the shelf and the shop assistant was right there taking the mug (in a box) out of my hands and placing it by the cash register. Discraceful treatment which made my husband and I vow never to return. Any and all items can bought in any major high street store, so why go where you are regarded as potential thieves. We will shop in John Lewis in future.
I have been visiting this shop each time I go to Winchester for over 10 years and, upon entering, have never once been spared the look of disdain by the staff who always give an impression of suspicion and superciliousness. And no I'm not a shop lifter, dressed like a tramp, covered in piercings or smell or look strange in any way. Maybe they are used to that sort of clientele in Winchester, but they really should get over themselves, not pre judge people and treat prospective customers with a modicum of respect. I've kept going back once a year or so partly as they have quite a few nice things, some of which I've bought, (take note), and also just for the amusement I get from the scornful looks.
A massive variety of kitchenware is available here, but the shop's layout leaves much to be desired. With tall racks of fragile glass / pottery on all sides, moving around the store can be a nervewracking experience! That being said, there are lot of interesting and innovative products available here. When busy, the store gets clogged up very easily.
