Fabulous setting and a great visit. Really feel the atmosphere just as if Jane could walk right past you.

Came here because my wife was interested. Pretty cool even though I wasn't entirely interested in going myself. Turned out to be fun and interesting.

one of the coolest experiences I've been to! Really enjoyed going through the whole house and the signage is really helpful. Came there in the winter months so couldn't really see the garden for what it is in the summer. however we had fun putting on the outfits and taking pictures around the grounds.

I spent one of the warmer autumn days of this year achieving an ambition, to visit Jane Austen's home in Chawton, Hampshire and it didn't disappoint. To see the bedroom she shared with her sister, Cassandra, the table upon which they dined and some of the family Wedgwood porcelain were perhaps to be expected. To see the tiny, worn table where Jane Austen created some of the finest literature written in the English language was a delightful surprise, however. The rooms and display cabinets revealed other fascinating items and facts but the volunteer guide that day, Andrew, was the cherry on the cake, as he shared an array of interesting and entertaining information about Jane and her life. There is a charming pub opposite serving a decent lunch and many gins, along with a coffee and tea shop next door but may I recommend that before you leave you sit a while in the garden and just let the good fortune of being where Jane had been benefit your soul.

A real quiet place in the country where you can get a precise idea of what was life like at the beginning of the nineteenth century. Nothing is stunning by itself but the house as a whole conveys the perfect picture. Moreover, the staff (volunteers, maybe) are very knowledgeable and you get a lot of additional details about the life of the famous writer.
